Things to do: Woodward Ranch

Woodward Ranch, the only source of the famed RED PLUME AGATE, has over 60 different kinds of other agate and gemstones occurring naturally. Some of the material is fluorescent. We will show you the characteristics of the rock you are looking for, and upon your return tell you the different kinds you have found. If you don't want to hunt your own gemstones, we also have rock available at the rockshop, from rough to unique, one-of-a-kind finished jewelry and gifts.

Museum Store Collections
Collections The Museum of the Big Bend collection began with an arrowpoint found in the Sunny Glen area of Alpine, Texas, in 1920. From such a humble beginning, the Collection has grown many times over. From fossilized remains to contemporary art, the Collection reflects the broad diversity of the Big Bend region.
